I can't agree more, I always stay at SLP when in Bangkok, the studios are first rate. On my most recent visit (last month) I was upgraded to a one bedroomes apartment. I like the fact you have a washer/dryer in the rooms as well. 24 hour supermarket close by as well. Try Booking.com for the best rates when booking.
How would I drive to this hotel from the South (Rama IV)? Would I have to go take soi 22 or 24 from the Rama IV end to Sukhumvit and then go back to Ratchadapisek to Soi 16 or could I come up Ratchadapisek from Rama IV and U-turn at the Sukhumvit intersection to get to Soi 16? I've never noticed if a U-turn is possible there or not.
Coming from Rama IV towards Asok/Sukhumvit you can turn right/U turn to get to to soi 16. Just after Benjakiti Park there is a turn for you, once in soi 16 the SLP is about 250/300 yards down on your left. You'll pass the Foodland on your right, then a block with a bar and some massage places.

I've stayed there in the past and thought it a convenient location for a decent price.
Traffic in the area is a bit of a headache though, particularly in the rush hours.
