    Default Adelphi Suites, Bangkok

I've stayed at Adelphi Suites located on Soi 8 on three trips between 2008 and and 2009, probably a total of about a month of cumulative time. I give it a high marks for the following reasons: guest friendly, good value, clean, safe, comfortable, great location and friendly staff.

I have taken multiple TGF's to my room, and twice two at one time. I was never charged anything extra. Always treated well. I always had the desk clerk collect and make copies of I.D.'s and they call me in my room before they return the I.D.'s. Security is good, and you need a key card to use the elevator, so there is little chance of unexpected visitors.

I left a suitcase at the hotel, with no problems, when I went to Chaing Mai for a few days, and came back.

Expect to pay from 1800 to 3600 Baht/night. I always splurged and got a suite for about 3000 Baht per night, better deals can be had if you stay longer. I found it is best to book the room directly with the hotel, but do a search with places like agoda, just to make sure you are getting the best deal.

Once I was upgraded for free to the highest level suite and it was swank with better furnishings and a great corner view. The furnishings are nice but not real high class. In the suites there are refrigerators, and washing machines. Flat screen televisions in each room. There is a digital safe in each room.

I really like the bathrooms and the showers. Having a decent bathroom I consider a necessity, especially when having multiple visitors, and being able to play in the showers.

The beds are good and comfortable.

The maid service is excellent, though on a coupe of occaisons they ran out of towels, and when I had multiple guests in one day I had to call the front desk, but they were able to bring a couple of extra towels within about ten minutes.

The doormen and lobby staff were all friendly, and quick with a smile each time I entered or left. Most of the desk staff had excellent English skills, and were willing to give directions.

There are two computers in the lobby for the guests to use. The hotel has a rooftop small pool, and a reasonably nice work out room with aerobic equipment, weight machines and free weights.

Breakfast was included in my stays, and was good but not great. You could get eggs to order, an assortment of cereals and fruit, and some various Thai food. Often, especially later in the morning they would run out of certain items and/or the buffet looked pretty picked over (e.g. all the meat was out of some of the Thai dishes, leaving only vegetables and sauce). There is both an indoor dining area, and an outdoor dining area. I preferred the outdoor dining area, as it is right on Soi 8, and it was interesting to watch the people walking on Soi 8, including I would often see the Lolita's girls in their school girl outfits wanlking to work in the A.M. or getting some food from the street vendors.

The location is great, as it is only about a two minute walk to Sukummvit, and maybe three minutes to Nana Station. Yet it is far enough off Sukummvit to be supper busy. I really like the bar Soi 8, which is literally across the street, and Kinnarree Restaurant is a few minutes down on Soi 8 that some believe has the best Thai food in Bangkok. The Biergarten is only about a ten minute walk away, and Nana Plaza only abut 10 minutes away if you know the shortcut to walk through the sub-Soi that Lolitas is on.

I must say, Adelphi Suites is the only place I have stayed in Bangkok, so I can not really compare it in value other hotels. I did look at the hotel On 8, but for my money, Adelphi Suites is much better, as the rooms are bigger, it is not directly on Sukummvit, and overall I just like the ambience better. Both hotels are owned by the Compass Hospitality Company, which own many properties. As far as I know all the properties Compass owns in Bangkok are guest friendly.

Sorry not to provide any pictures or videos in this review, but I don't know how to import these. I will say that if you go on the Adelphi site, you will see a video and pictures, and these pictures are reality, and not deceptive as far as an acurate portrayal of the hotel and rooms.

I've got a report brewing and video to upload, I can tell you the internet is only 2 M/B.
Quite surprising for a place charging what Adelphi does.
    Good place overall though... :)

    Are you implying something btw?

Adelphi Suites is a building constructed only a few years ago (2008) and looks good from the outside and the inside.

As a newer hotel everything is new-looking, the ground floor reception has nice marble effect tiles. Some of the rooms we were shown had not seen use at all.

The reception area was minimalist but the staff cordial enough. English was not spoken that well though.

The deluxe room was nice to look at, it has a kitchen/lounge area and then the bedroom.

Nice, intermediate views looking west towards Nana Plaza here.

For both the room's that were looked in there were no issues. However, for some inexplicable reason, the aircon is designed so it's manual operation only from the walls. Even low-end apartments tend to have remote air-con's these days so to see both the Deluxe and the Executive without these was a bit of a disappointment.
The bed was hard to start then soft under weight. The walls were fairly solid too, should be good for keeping the noise's muted for when any 'action' is going on.

The executive room is fair value, with a lounge room and a kitchen area, this room being slightly larger than the deluxe one. The bed is exactly the same. The wall-mounted flatscreen TV is a nice touch, but there's no DVD player. A little hi-fi unit (with possible docking capability for Ipods)

The room capacity at the hotel is small, 93 rooms are available. Parking is available also on the 2nd floor (drive around the Suites and it's at the rear).
Both the Deluxe and the Executive had washing machines. The rooms that we saw seemed to indicate they'd never been used at all!

Note, there is a price promotion price currently being offered so expect these rates to be a bit lower right now (by a few hundred baht per day typically).

WiFi charges are free but only runs at 2 MB per second. The signal should reach all the other rooms though.

Access is at BTS Nana. A short stroll up Soi 8. Nearby is the Sheraton Hotel on the same side of Sukhumvit.

    Limo service available.
